The card that tried to eat my blouse

For the second time in almost two weeks I have almost lost *fingers crossed * my favorite light tan blouse. Now the first time was last week and mustard but we won't go there. Now today I came back to the hotel room after dinner and thought I will work on a quick card kit by CTMH berries and boughs. Should have been a pretty easy quick kit to get done when all of the sudden my Tuxedo Black stamp pad just jumped right out of my hands and onto that same poor blouse. Here is to hoping that my quick reaction time got it into the sink with pretreatment stain removal on it. (Must say something about me that I travel with stain pretreatment in the first place). I thought I would let you know that Jennifer Mcquire is holding a card contest all through November and you need to check out her new blog.

First slider card

Well I finally tried to make a slider card. Now I didn't manage it without slicing my thumb a little with the exacto blade but really what card isn't worth a little blood.  Now this card came from a Paperwishes card kit and this card kit is the first time I used brads as well so go easy on me. Lol

Couldn't have been more wrong

Lol I couldn't have been more wrong. The very nice lady who had lost her mother had dinner Friday at TGIFiday's my treat. She is very sweet but doesn't get out of the house much. She has to use public transportation because she uses a motorized wheelchair and when her van stopped working she didn't have enough money to fix it. Not to be offensive because I am obese myself but she is one of the people you would either walk past and never seen her, and one teenagers make fun of. But after spending a few hours with her you no longer see that but a strong, independent, and generous woman. She has had cancer four times. She wanted to move home to a small town outside Rochester but was told that the hospital couldn't treat her and wouldn't live long enough to survive the flight. If you listened to the meals on wheels has to offer her even though it is organic and fresh isn't made with keeping weight off. She struggles to get caregivers in her home to help with small chores that aren't absent half the time. She volunteers time for veterans groups and attends funerals of military members to prevent protests from occurring. She also volunteers to make cards and card kits for children in the local oncology ward. This month it will be upwards of 50 card's and she worries about how she is going to come up with the postage to mail the cards because she lives on a limited income. She was so inspiring for me. That beautiful designer card kit that someone else couldn't take time to reply about put tears in her eyes and made her keep asking me are you sure? I had to keep reassuring her that I was more than sure. I gave her enough supplies to make 50 plus Christmas cards and added extra supplies on top of that. That card box went to the best home I can think of. I sorry I haven't been posting more often but I am sick right now and hopefully will get better soon. I will work to post more often. I only made a couple of card's this week because I have been so tired but I will put up a picture of the one that I plan on giving to one of the staff who has kept a close eye on me when my husband isn't here because she worries that I really need to be in the hospital.  I probably do but God I hate hospitals. Hope you have a good week and talk to you soon.

Life and crafting in a hotel room

I am currently staying in a hotel room in Greece, NY while my husband works for a few weeks. Let me tell you loading a car early Saturday morning and trying to pack as many card kits and craft supplies wasn't fun. I may never make a card kit again after this trip. They can get kind of mind numbing. I opened one and not all of the supplies were even packed with it. Don't worry I talked to the manufacturer and they are sending a new kit to my home as we speak. I started some shaker card's from another kit, but decided after stamping my arm for the third time that I probably wasn't focused enough for that. I had some people I thought I might be able to craft with up here but as they haven't responded to the one message I sent them leads me to believe that they (lol) actually consider me a stalker. I had brought a bunch of new crafting supplies and Legos for them. Don't ask. But since I got here one woman pulled an adult coloring book out of my hands at the local Michael's. Turned out she was a professional artist and coloring is how she relaxes. So anyway she picked up a better coloring book for me, gave me her business card and told me to call if I got too bored in the hotel room. I emailed her today for a recommendation for watercolor pencils but she hasn't replied yet either. Then tonight while I was working on the card's I found out that a member of another Facebook group I belong to had just lost her mother. I offered to make some version of a sympathy card. And then in that group I got to talking to someone about where I was, etc. and she wants to get together. However of course it is the person who just lost there mother. So I really don't see that happening lol. I just can't win. I think I am going to try to fall asleep for a little while. Have a great night and I will talk to everyone or no one soon (LOL).

Lawnscaping challenge

I used leftover parts from my Simon Says Stamp Card Kit for September 2015 (6x6 paper and vellum postcards) I added my own white card stock for the card base. Inside of the card I heat embossed with Versamark ink and fine black embossing powder the "I love you " sentiment from Lawn Faun Scripty Sentiments.
